LT Tech built the Duo Fin app as a personal finance management application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect information provided by your authentication provider:

• Google Sign-In: name, email address, and profile photo URL
• Sign in with Apple: name and email address (if shared)

1.2 Financial Data

To provide the core functionality of the App, we collect and store:

• Transaction details (title, description, amount, date, category, currency, recurrence settings)
• Budget sections and limits
• Custom categories
• Currency preferences

1.3 Group Expense Data

If you use group expense features, we collect:

• Group names, descriptions, and icons
• Member names and email addresses
• Group expenses, splits, and settlements
• Group balances

1.4 Device and Usage Data

We automatically collect certain information when you use the App:

• Firebase Analytics: screen views, feature usage events (e.g., transaction added, budget created), login method, and app opens. This data is collected in aggregate and does not include your financial data.
• Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token: a device token used solely to deliver push notifications.
• Device information: device type, operating system version, and app version (collected automatically by Firebase).

1.5 Advertising Data

The App uses Google AdMob to display banner advertisements. AdMob may collect:

• Device advertising identifier (if permitted)
• General device information for ad serving

We do not share your financial data with advertising partners.

3. Data Storage and Security

3.1 Local Storage

Your financial data is stored locally on your device using SQLite for offline access. Authentication tokens are stored securely using platform-specific secure storage (Keychain on iOS, EncryptedSharedPreferences on Android).

3.2 Cloud Storage

Your data is synced to Google Cloud Firestore, which is encrypted at rest and in transit. Our backend API is served over HTTPS with TLS encryption.

3.3 Security Measures

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

• HTTPS/TLS for all network communications
• Secure token storage on device
• Firebase Authentication for access control
• Server-side authentication and authorization

While we strive to protect your personal information, no method of electronic storage or internet transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal or financial data to third parties.

We may share information only in the following circumstances:

• Group members: When you join or create a group, other members can see your name, email, and shared expense data within that group.
• Service providers: We use third-party services (listed above) to operate the App. These providers have access only to the data necessary to perform their functions.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to valid legal requests.

6. Push Notifications

We use Firebase Cloud Messaging to send push notifications about:

• Group invitations
• Expenses created involving you
• Settlements with group members

You can manage notification preferences within the App's settings or disable notifications through your device settings. You will never receive notifications about your own actions.

7. Advertising

The App displays banner advertisements through Google AdMob. You can opt out of personalized advertising through your device settings:

• Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization
• iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → Disable "Allow Apps to Request to Track"

Premium subscribers may have an ad-free experience.

8. In-App Purchases

The App offers a premium subscription. Purchase transactions are processed entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We do not collect or store your payment information (credit card numbers, billing address, etc.). We only receive a purchase confirmation and subscription status.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data.
• Data Portability: Request your data in a portable format.
• Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent for data processing at any time.

Account Deletion

You can delete your account directly from the App (Profile → Delete Account) or by contacting us. Upon deletion:

• Your account and authentication data will be removed
• Your financial data will be deleted from our servers
• Local data on your device can be removed by uninstalling the App
• Group data where other members are involved may be retained in anonymized form

11. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes.

12. International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, as our services use Google Cloud infrastructure. These transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards in compliance with applicable data protection laws.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in the App and updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this document.
